Ghost signs are captivating relics of urban archaeology, silently telling tales of the past. Despite their imposing presence, they remain hidden in plain sight, fading echoes of bygone advertisements etched onto the contemporary cityscape. Each sign carries its own narrative—not just of the business it once promoted or the people involved but of its improbable endurance through time.
Intrigued by these enigmatic remnants, I developed Hidden History for my thesis project. It’s a digital platform dedicated to capturing, storing, and preserving ghost signs before they vanish completely. Serving as a sanctuary for these fading ads, Hidden History offers a glimpse into the past, enabling users to explore their stories, share anecdotes, and ensure their legacy for generations to come.
